Holly excels at connecting people and brands with the best that Nantucket Island has to offer. Over the past six years, her lifestyle guide, Nantucket blACKbook, has reinvented the ways for businesses to market and brand on the island. Holly runs the entirety of her platforms around advocacy, not advertising. From producing and hosting events to travel scouting in resort destinations to creating entrepreneur retreats on island and off, Holly has a true passion for curating quality content and connections in fresh and exciting ways. She is incredibly well connected and has a serious love for hospitality as she spent her first nine years tending bar on the island at various hotspots like LoLa 41, the White Elephant and Ventuno. As a modern day strategist, Holly consults on building brands authentically by using Facebook, Instagram, and digital marketing more effectively. Holly lives on Nantucket year round and is currently writing her first book.
Sara Farley I blACKbook graphic designer
Upon graduating from college, Sara came to Nantucket for one last summer of fun before transitioning into the “real world”. That was in 2005, and, somehow, one summer turned into a fall which then became a winter and suddenly ten summers had passed and Sara was still on that magical island. She had found her own real world twenty six miles out to sea. Except, on most days, this real world felt so much closer to a dream. One where she could build a career in one of her true passions (graphic design) and have some of the most amazing meals (SWR taquitos truly bring her life every summer) and drinks (the best Bud Lights this side of the Atlantic) a Jersey girl could ever want. Between the gram worthy views (there is basically one on every corner and curve) and numerous live music gigs at so many local haunts (including that infamous BOX stage), Sara not only found the real world. She found her home.
Cara Marquis I blackBook web developer
Cara Marquis has been an intricate part of team blACKbook as the web designer for the business since 2014. A year round resident of Nantucket, she specializes in working with small businesses and entrepreneurs with brand and web development, logo design, print marketing and beyond. From the slopes to the sand, Cara’s a true active islander with her favorite activities including walks at Sanford Farm, paddle boarding along the Nantucket Harbor and savoring a meal at the Straight Wharf bar. While her schedule is always brimming with exciting new projects and clients, her happiest Nantucket moments come when spending QT with her husband Jim of Island Boat Rental, son Bo and dog Ophelia along the sandy shores of Miacomet.
Charlie Merritt I MANtucket blACKbook
Since the first day he washed ashore to Nantucket six years ago, Charlie has held firm like a beached whale. He’s been the last one home from the BOX to now evolving into the first one awake to man his store FRESH. He’s had a buzz on every square inch of this island and taken a picture of the sunset from every seaside shore. Charlie believes that writing about ribeyes and sharing the stories of Nantucket is a treat, not a chore, so he’s happy to entertain with team blACKbook and bring to you all things men.
Sarah Clunie I 2017 blACKbook intern
Sarah is a 5th generation Nantucketer and a rising senior at Suffolk University in Boston studying advertising. For this island girl, there is no better feeling in the world than spending time with family and friends on the beaches of Nantucket followed by a Nantucket Red at Cisco Brewery. Sarah loves tennis, Sankaty Lighthouse, taking a plethora of ACK instagrams and savoring cool ocean swims at her favorite spot at Fishermans.
Meredith Hayden I 2017 blACKbook intern
Meredith is a rising senior at Clemson University, studying marketing and enjoying much of her free time on campus to design apparel for my sorority, Alpha Chi Omega. She first stepped ashore to Nantucket in 1997 and the island has forever remained her favorite place on the planet. A lover of all things food, a dog enthusiast and a self professional sunset chaser, Meredith joins team blACKbook for the first season in May.
Gracie Strausser I 2017 blACKbook intern
Gracie Strausser is a rising senior at Miami of Ohio double majoring in Media and Culture and Interactive Media Studies. After spending last summer working as a hostess at her favorite restaurant on island, Straight Wharf Restaurant, she jetted off to study abroad in Prague while simultaneously eating her way through the rest of Europe and documenting it on her food blog-eatwithg. Gracie spent the first 18 years of her life growing up in California and cannot wait escape from the cornfields of the midwest and spend yet another summer on the beach as a blACKbook intern. When not working, you can find her running the bike paths on island, enjoying a glass of Rose at Cru or obsessing over her most prized possession, her dog Talley.
