We love a good pairing here at blACKbook so we reached out to two of our ACK favorites, Alanna May Lucas of Nantucket Wine & Spirits and Karen Starr Golov of Eye of the Needle who took our latest vino & style color favorite BURGUNDY to new heights! Read up on the four red wines that Alanna is crushing on this season and how to match them with the vibrant burgundy themed looks that Karen is crazy about below!

Domaine Coquelet Chiroubles Vieilles Vignes 2015
ALANNA SAYS… “Beaujolais isn’t always what one thinks of when the word Burgundy comes to mind, but truth be told, it is in fact part of Burgundy! The grape used in Beaujolais is Gamay Noir rather than Pinot Noir. This wine from the Chiroubles area has a wonderful floral component that I found to be pleasing and different to the typical bright red fruit flavors that are so common in the area.”
KAREN SAYS… “Fall is all about classic and cozy knits! A waterfall sleeve takes this cranberry sweater up a notch! And there’s nothing basic about these jeans and boots! The tuxedo stripes cascade down the denim and a pair of high rise suede boots are a sure attention grabber, as they go over the knee AND lace up the back!”
Domaine Gachot Monot Cote de Nuits Villages 2014
ALANNA SAYS… “I found this wine at at a tasting this Spring and its been holding strong ever since. A soft entry with bright raspberry and blackberry notes and even a touch of cranberry all finishing with a clean finish. This is a great intro to what can be an intimidating (and expensive) region to get familiar with since it doesn’t break the bank.”
KAREN SAYS… “Make a statement! Stand out in a bordeaux floral mini with ruffles that flatter the neck, sleeve and hemline. This silk dress is sure to spice up every holiday wardrobe and with a cinched waist, it is both fitted and flirty!”
Domaine Joseph Voillot Volnay 2014
ALANNA SAYS …”I find myself drifting to Volnay when I’m recommending Burgundy to customers. I’m not sure if it’s because I’ve come across a few I really like or if it’s because Volnay is my Burgundy of choice, if a choice is given. Either way, Volnay tends to be the more delicate and feminine of the options and this stands up to that reputation. Delicate red fruit from start to finish with a freshness that I find very appealing.”
KAREN SAYS… “Pairing textures has always been one of my favorite things about fall fashion. BONUS: this strapless pop of color can be worn both as a dress or a long skirt!”
Domaine Guyon Savigny-Les-Beaune ‘Les Goudelettes’ 2012
ALANNA SAYS… “Savigny-Les-Beaune is not the most well known area in Burgundy, but that is exactly why I like it. It’s the lesser known places that have the terrific values, if you do a little digging. Luckily, that’s what I’ve done and this is what this is – a terrific value! A perfect balance of lavender and red fruit, this is a diamond in the rough that is sure to make you fall in love with Savigny, if you haven’t already!”
KAREN SAYS… “Jewel tones are colors that perfectly pair with blacks and neutrals. Notice the sheer leg illusion of this dress styled with just the amount of chic and an element of fun and intrigue!”
