MISS blACKbook SAYS… So I spent the first nine years of my Nantucket Life bartending on ACK.… and I can say first hand, that there is no better way to get your island feet wet, than by making the amazing connections that you can behind the bars at the various world class island dining spots! And with my latest collab with Windwalker William Raveis, I’ve got two bartenders turned brokers, telling you why they are taking the leap from the restaurant scene to the real estate one.. and why they still love and keep their shifts at their bars, too! Meet my friends John and Anthony… from behind the bar to WWR.
YEARS ON ACK: 23
HOMETOWN: Groton, Massachusetts
COLLEGE: University of Delaware
I am impressed with the hyper local focus of Windwalker backed by the reach and resources of the William Raveis family of brokerages. We have a culture of collaboration, and are never concerned with competing with our Principal for business.
2. What’s your favorite part about the Nantucket restaurant scene?
Overall, the quality of food and service on Nantucket is exceptionally high. The restaurant scene we enjoy mirrors the community we all share in that there is a sense of family and striving for excellence that exists as a whole.
3. What’s your favorite part about the Nantucket real estate industry?
I love that we are truly a unique market full of high end construction and design. It takes commitment to land here, and this is our clients happy place. Real estate is really the vehicle for the dreams and memories that we all are lucky enough to create.
4. Where do you like to go out and eat on ACK?
That’s a tough one since we have so many great options. Most recently, I have been impressed (in alphabetical order), American Seasons, Arnos (under new ownership), Cru, Dune, Galley, Nautilus, Straight Wharf, and Ventuno. It’s also worth mentioning that PRIME Steakhouse serves a great Big mACK, and the BOX has an impressive line up of entertainment this year.
5. When I’m not working I am …
Well, I’ve been juggling a lot of things this year, but my favorite past times on Nantucket are fishing, boating, taking advantage of our great restaurant scene, and seeing live music.
6. Favorite beach on island?
Usually the one that’s least windy, but Fisherman’s is always a great call.
7. If I was to buy a house right now on Nantucket it would be in...
I would have to say TOWN… I really like being in the middle of all the action!
8. Why Nantucket?
Nantucket is obviously one of the most pristine and beautiful locations in the world. It’s easy to see that the first time you step off the boat. The thing that brings us all back, and makes us want to live here, is the community.
9. Favorite Listing Of The Moment?
