A trifecta of upcoming events sustain the efforts of this vital resource for the island… first up is Women in Wellness event on July 22nd at The Dreamland from 4:30-7pm which is an opportunity to hear from a network of medical professionals with all proceeds funding a new healing labyrinth garden at the hospital. Then on August 10th, a summer staple Boston Pops performance with The Spinners will have you moving to the sounds of Motown while benefiting hospital operations that keep the lights on. Rounding out the summer on August 24th, Swim Across America supporting cancer care and PASCON aims to beat their fundraising record after raising over $300,000 in 2018! This amazing trio of events are essential to our community’s future and health so get these on your radar!

You won’t want to miss this month’s Happy Place and Island Kitchen Block Party on Thursday July 18th! This family friendly event is a great opportunity to get the squad together for an evening of light bites, music, shopping and learning about a bunch of cool healing modalities offered here on island. It is free to the public with a suggested donation to the Nantucket Healing Fund, a new mental health scholarship created by Evie O’Connor and Miss blACKbook. School is officially out for the summer and July is filling up with options to keep the kids busy and off the screens.To kick it off The Department of Culture and Tourism is hosting the traditional Main Street activities on Thursday July 4th at 10am culminating with the water fight at noon (please leave the water balloons at home). At 5pm head over to Children’s Beach for potato sack, three legged, and wheelbarrow races and some tug-of-war with music on the bandstand beginning at 6pm.
On July 5th at 9pm the Jetties Beach fireworks display will light up the Nantucket sky with rain date set for July 6th.
Pencil in July 10th for the Egan Maritime Shipwreck & Lifesaving Museum FREE Family Fun Day from 10am-2pm. Full of crafts and activities for all ages, Nanpuppets will even be joining the fun for an 11:30am performance with a parting snack provided to attendees.
On July 11th, the St. Paul’s Church annual fair will return, offering free games and crafts for children as well as a gift chalet and hodge podge rummage sale. To feed everyone’s appetite, there will be a raw bar and hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill, as well as snow cones, cotton candy, popcorn and a bake sale table for other sweet treats.
Who said Nantucket Comedy Festival is just for adults? This annual summer event raises funds for Stand Up & Learn™, an island-based, year-round comedy education program serving Nantucket’s children. This year they added a new show to the lineup fit for the whole family…the first annual Kid’s Island Comedy Cup is set for July 12th at 5pm at the Dreamland. This event features kids from Nantucket “competing” against kids from Martha’s Vineyard while performing their own original comedic material developed during workshops that took place from February to June.
