Nantucket somehow becomes even more beautiful during the holidays. Once the brave souls are warmed up after the Turkey Plunge at Children’s Beach and the tryptophan has worn off from all the turkey, the Christmas tree lighting ceremony at the top of Main Street kicked off Nantucket Noel 2016. Originally created to prevent islanders from looking elsewhere for their holiday shopping, this year’s 43rd annual Christmas Stroll weekend (put together by our amazing Nantucket Chamber of Commerce) was a total success as indicated by the packed ferries and sidewalks. OH CHRISTMAS TREES… WHAT STROLL PLEASURES YOU DID BRING ME!
Thursday night’s sold out Festival of Trees Preview Party at the Whaling Museum had those in attendance in awe of the over 80 trees decorated by different community members.
PEOPLE WERE READY TO STOP, SHOP & STORLL!
The fun began on Friday with patrons strolling and shopping for their loved ones at the wide variety of stores in town… and the red tickets were a-flowin’!
LOTS OF LIBATIONS + TONS O’CELEBRATIONS
The dining scene was as hot as ever with many places opening back up for the weekend before saying goodbye to the 2016 season.
STROLL SQUADS WERE IN FULL EFFECT!
On Saturday, festive groups donning matching holiday hats and red and green attire were found as far as the eye could see….
BUT THESE LOOKS TOTALLY “SLEIGH-ED”!
….and this creative chick took it up a notch with this homemade tree skirt…
and this wine wreath hat!
IT WAS QUITE THE STROLL DOGGY DOG WORLD OUT THERE!
Some of our furry friends even channeled their inner Santa Paws…and a trio of pugs barked “BAH HUM PUG” from @sarahkjp!
AS IS TRADITION… SANTA MADE A BIG SPLASH WHEN HE ANCHORED ON ACK!
It wouldn’t be Christmas STROLL without SANTA! And who could forget about good ol’ Saint Nicholas arriving in style via the Coast Guard boat to greet those on the Nice list!

The Theatre Workshop of Nantucket’s cast of A “Christmas Story” sang to welcome Santa as he made his way to The Jared Coffin House for photos… while elsewhere, carolers spread Christmas cheer to the crowds outside. You could find see and hear the NutcrACKer Suite which was playing at the Dreamland on Sunday with Nantucket Ballet and Go Figure Studio!

In case we ever had any doubts, heaven IS a place on earth because the Cisco Brewery is open year round, and yes, Hurricane Rum tastes amazing with warm cider
THE CALM DURING THE STROLL-M…
Others skipped the crowds and found some solitude by picking out a perfect Christmas tree at Moors End Farm and by taking a calm drive out to the always picturesque Great Point Lighthouse.
SUPERSIZED Rosé COVERED GLASSES GALORE!
On Sunday, CRU threw a SUPER closing brunch, complete with DJ Ryan Brown and rosé for days.
AND SUNDAY NIGHT OF STROLL IS ALWAYS A BUBBLE OF A BASH WITH THE PEARL!
Toasting to their 25th anniversary at 12 Federal, Seth & Angela Raynor truly know how to extend that Stroll Sunday Funday into one of the most delicious and celebratory evening parties of the ACK season!
AND OF COURSE… NO #ACKSTROLL IS COMPLETE WITHOUT A SNAPSHOT OF THE CHRISTMAS DORY BOAT FROM EASY STREET!
