We all know that November may start out as one of the quietest months of the year… but boy, are there still a lot of amazing things going on around the rock as we gear up for the holiday season! Here, in typical blACKbook fashion, we have the nine things to note for November. (Which kinda includes October and kinda includes December!)
1. LOLA bACK OPEN FOR LUNCH
One of our favorite parts about Nantucket in the fall is when LoLa 41 opens bACK up for lunch. This year-round hotspot serves up fresh specials including their ever-innovative Bento Box from the sushi bar, as well as a housemade soup and sandwich that changes daily! BONUS: While Sunday is the only day they don’t serve lunch, you can instead toast with dinner at LoLa as Sushi Sundays are bACK on … buy one roll and get one free!
2. HALLOWEEN AT THE BOX
Saturday October 29th
Oh yes… there is no dress up party on Nantucket like that of the annual Chicken Box Halloween Bash! As is tradition, there will be prizes for most original, scariest and sexiest… and you can be sure the place will be rockin’ with the always high energy GREEN LINE INBOUND on stage again! Cover is $10 and the show starts around 10PM.
3. FIGHT NIGHT DINNER with CISCO BREWERS
Get ready for some feisty food and drink fun with FIGHT NIGHT at b-ACKyard BBQ in conjunction with Cisco Brewers, Triple 8 Distillery and Nantucket Vineyard. Customers get four courses, each paired with two beverages. The “fighters” vary from week to week, but the match-ups are Beer vs Wine, Wine vs Spirits, and Spirits vs Beer! Diners get a scorecard where they can pick their favorite pairing each round. At the end of the night an overall winner is crowned! Just $40 per person and they run every Wednesday night from October 26th through December 28th.
An amazing fundraiser for a wonderful Nantucket cause…. Support the Harvey Foundation in two beautiful ways during one amazing weekend. Start out with a pre-race Island Grace Dinner at the SeaGrille on Saturday, November 5th. For the $150 ticket in, guests will enjoy the raw bar, libations, a delicious Italian dinner and the opportunity to see special guest speaker and Boston Marathoner Dick Hoyt as he shares his “Yes you can” message with our island! And on Sunday, join the Harvey family for the second annual Run for Robin 5K. This walk/run kicks off at 10AM at the VFW, with a cookout to follow for all the involved. All money raised stays local and supports two incredible $7500 scholarships awarded yearly to two Nantucket High School seniors, a female and male three sport student athlete, who has played three different sports for a minimum of their junior and senior years of high school. 5. GREAT JEWEL HEIST HARVEST BASH for NEW SCHOOL
Get ready to dress up for a good cause! Join the Nantucket New School for their 13th annual Harvest Bash, this year with a “Great Jewel Heist” theme! Event co-chairs David M. Handy and Carline Montgomery will be transforming the space at the Nantucket Yacht Club and hosting a beautiful evening comes with dinner, dancing and a live and silent auction. As one of the school’s primary fundraising events, all the proceeds go directly to support their academic programs, profession development and general operating expenses at the school. 6. ATLAS COLLAB DINNER WITH BARR HILL
Atlas is bACK at it with their second off season tasting dinner, this time pairing with Caledonia Spirits Barr Hill distillery! Barr Hill hails from Hardwick, Caledonia County, and is part of a community inspired by farms where the production of milk, cheese, timber, vegetables, grains, seeds, honey, and herbs are part of their lives and help define the place. Atlas’ Chef, Brandt Gould, is pairing four courses to compliment as their resident bar keep, David Pepe, adds in special cocktails featuring the Barr Hill collection of gins and vodkas! $55 per person. Call 508.825.5495 for reservations.

The community gathers at the top of Main Street to watch over 100 Christmas trees come alive with color and light. Caroling follows, led by Nantucket High School’s Accidentals & Naturals filling the air with sounds of an old-fashioned Christmas. School children, youth groups and non-profit organizations join with island businesses to decorate the trees in time for Christmas Stroll the following weekend.” The lighting is set for 5PM so get up to the top of Main early to enjoy the amazing energy of the show!
