2015 Little Miss blACKbook
Courtney Anne Owens
Little Miss blACKbook Courtney graduated from Gettysburg College this May with a BA in Organization & Management Studies and a Writing minor. At Gettysburg, she was captain of club lacrosse and served as the Director of Recruitment for her sorority, Delta Gamma. She is overjoyed to be spending another summer on island. “Interning for blACKbook last summer was the best thing that could have ever happened to me. Out of all the amazing summers I have spent on Nantucket since I was little, it was by far the most memorable. I cannot wait to be back with blACKbook and soak up all that our beautiful island has to offer again this summer!
MANTUCKET blACKbook… Charlie Merrit
Our very first guy blogger gives us his take on the life and times on NANTUCKET! Charlie Says… “As I return for my fourth summer and fall, senior year if you will, the anticipation has never been higher. Every summer gets better. I’ve lived in Australia and Aspen, and have seen many places in between, but Nantucket has become my home. The energy for summer 2015 is astronomical. As Miss blACKbook continues to take the blACKbook to new heights, I figured I’d stick my foot in the door and lend a helping hand, a man’s hand. Unfortunately, most employers don’t hire based on a persons’ ability to have immense amounts of fun, but I may have struck a gold mine here.”
Miss blACKbook Intern
Named after former ACK store Claire Murray, Claire joins us all the way from Indiana for her 20th summer on Nantucket! A senior at Indiana University, Claire studies Journalism with a minor in Communications and is president of her sorority Alpha Chi Omega. Claire is thrilled to be back on island this summer, and while here can most easily be found drinking a watermelon cream or an espresso while shopping at Nantucket Bookworks.
Miss blACKbook Intern
A recent Boston College graduate with a degree in Management, Marketing, and a minor in Film Studies, Emily Zona has been coming to Nantucket every summer since 1999. During her time on Nantucket, she has worked at In The Pink stores as well as the Dreamland Theatre, and loves being a part of the tight-knit Nantucket community. Her favorite times have been spent watching the sunset at Millie’s, listening to live music at the Cisco, and hosting large clambakes on the beach with her family. Having lived in 5 states and attended 8 schools before going to college, Emily feels that ACK is her home base. Emily says… “I can’t wait to expand my horizons of what this gorgeous place has to offer in my last summer on island as a blACKbook intern.”
