Searching to switch up your summer scene? Looking for a side of ambiance with some stellar cuisine? Our friends at ATLAS are celebrating their third season on Nantucket and have a whole slew of fresh things on the menu and in their restaurant… so with the season upon us, we’ve got a dozen do’s when it comes to ATLAS!

1. DO… GET READY TO DINE.

Fresh and locally sourced (and no frialator in sight!)  you’ll find bold flavors, on the ATLAS menu!  We especially  love how they have a whole grilled fish on special nightly, delivered right from the Ruthie B on whatever the fresh catch of the day was!

2. DO… TRY THAT RAMEN

People often refer to a night at ATLAS as their “Ramen Night” and while this dish is always on the menu, it’s a favorite amongst locals and visitors alike. This dish features their house fermented Kimchi loaded with broccolini, Barlett’s Farm spinach, grilled wild mushrooms, and more! BONUS: this dish can go full on Vegan for those herbivores out there… or if you want to protein it up, you can add pork, beef or jumbo shrimp to the delectable mix.

3. DO… SAVOR SOME SEAFOOD

Aside from their daily catch of a whole grilled fish… you’ll  find salmon belly crudo, a summer lobster entree, and their local grilled clams with a delicious broth that you’ll want to dip that  toasted housemade bread in!

4. DO… TRY SOME SMALL PLATES

Brandt’s extensive appetizer and small plate offerings are the great way for the table to taste what this talented chef is cookin’… dishes like Churrasco Skirt Steak, Roasted Eggplant and Shishito Peppers make for an ideal mid-island app crawl!

5. DO… GET DAVID TO MAKE YOU A SPECIAL COCKTAIL

Atlas’s resident  bartender David Pepe has a serious love for sourcing local ingredients and serving up some of the most innovative cocktails on ACK! Head over to their bar and you’ll be sure get the full ATLAS experience while sitting with this master mixologist!

6. DO… COME BACK TO TRY THE WHOLE COCKTAIL LIST!

From the exotic tequila favorite like the Desert Rose to the locally inspired Funky Mule with Triple Eight Cranberry, you’ll be able to get in the spirit quick while at ATLAS! David’s speciality cocktail list is extensive and ever changing… TAKE NOTE… the bar also offers a beauty list of brews for the eclectic beer lover and a wine list hand sourced by owner Gabrielle!

7. AND DEFINITELY DO A MARGARITA!

With one of the most impressive tequila lists on island, you’ll be sure to satisfy your blanco, reposado and anjejo fix while sipping at ATLAS! Aside from stellar fresh margaritas (like the ambrosia infused hisbicus one seen above!) Atlas also offers tequila flights of three tastes of your choosing!

8. DO… THE SHARE THING

While there are many  places to go for getting dressed up and doing the 3-course all in dining concept… Atlas’s menu is best enjoyed with friends. Taste and try the various small plates, sides and entrees and be sure to pair them with the bar offerings… every night you can come back for a different experience!

9. DO GET YOUR LIVE MUSIC FIX

Every third Friday, you’ll be able to enjoy Miss Fairchild at Atlas from 10 ish until last call– this fun and funky soulful Boston band comes in with serious energy and gets the crowd pumping… With a $5 cover and a kick off weekend jam session, be sure to bring your dancing shoes! FYI: since they love the dance factor, the keep the crowd intimate so get there early to have the best view!
This Summer, get your local rock and reggae fix on Saturday June 24th and then every Thursday night for July & August as ATLAS hosts beloved favorite FOGGY ROOTS! The band starts around 10ish leaving plenty of time for a great dinner before and drinks after!

10. AND DO… GET YOUR DJ DANCE ON!

From Deep House to Electonica to Remixed Classics, resident DJ Pete Ahern of Audio Architechs can be found at ATLAS this summer. While the dates are TBA, but as always, just know you’ll be able to enjoy the tunes, the groove and the libations… with no cover!

 11. DO… SUPPORT THESE AWESOME LOCALS

Chef/Owners Brandt and Gabrielle both have a long history with the culinary world. Brandt started working in restaurants as a teen and Gabrielle was born into a family of restaurateurs. When they met on Nantucket seventeen years ago, Brandt was the creator and owner of Cambridge Street and Gabrielle was an alum of Jean George in NYC and Oran Mor. And while Brandt stems from a more urban, fast paced, funky realm and Gabrielle from the more high-end world of restaurants, they brought both of their pasts together to create ATLAS… to make an island destination that serves approachable and genuine craft food with a remarkable cocktail program. This eclectic blend offers an atmosphere with service that keeps the high end product without making you feel like your shorts and flip flops are out of place! ATLAS has become a spot for every diner, just as they intended when they created it!

12. BONUS… DO GET READY FOR PATIO DINING!

Our friends at ATLAS know that we all love to dine outdoors when that weather is beautiful,  so be sure to check out their newly designed outdoor patio which will offer full dinner service for tables of two up to six outside this season!
