And with just a few weeks left of Summer ’16 on ACK… she has the inside scoop on the styles of wine that can match all your August occasions:

1. August Puts The CHAMP in Champagne

So we know there’s always a reason to POP some bubbly while on Nantucket. And of course, the 20th anniversary of the Boston #POPSonACK this year gives us a serious reason to celebrate!  ALANNA SAYS… “I love bubbles, and any excuse to open a bottle. Actually, I don’t really need an excuse, but if I did, the POPS would be one!” So beach, blankets and bubbles? Yes, please. And this weekend, put the champ in Champagne for a serious celebration with none other than Pol Roger champagne and Laurent Perrier Rosé. Two classic bottles for gamut of extraordinary events.

 2. Summer Friends… Share Rose All Day

Sure, the month of August brings us tons of ability to toast with friends… heck, August 7th was actually Friendship Day! ALANNA SAYS… “What says friendship more than sharing a bottle of cheers with good friends?! I mean Nantucket and rosé are pretty much synonymous so let’s share a glass (or two) together.” One of her many go to summer rosés this season is the perfect Deco Provence wine. Aside from the gorgeous summery label, the price is right and makes you want to buy a case for savoring a sunset at Steps. (While planning your winter girls trip to France!)

 3. Summer Whites For Summer Groove

ALANNA SAYS… “I find that most people are either a Sauvignon Blanc drinker or a Chardonnay drinker. Rarely do these two types venture to the other side; however, after a few glasses it is known that the two (types of) people will get their Summer Groove on. We have a carefully curated selection of both flavors, sure to accommodate even the most discerning of palates.” Get that summer white ready for a pretoast before the Summer Groove and step outside of your norms with Lieu Dit, Peter Michael’s L’Apres -Midi” and we can’t forget about the Merry Edwards 2014 Sav!

 4. BYOB? We say Bring Your Own Burgundy

ALANNA SAYS… “BYOBurgundy? Can I get the invite to this party? There are a handful of restaurants that let you bring your own wine when dining with them. In this hot weather, lighter reds are just what the doctor ordered and Burgundy fits the bill. It’s often assumed you need more than a few bills to buy Burgundy but we have a great selection at different price points so don’t be afraid to venture over to Burgundy next time you’re visiting us!” And when you’re looking to BYOB on island, be sure to savor a dinner at Black-Eyed Susans, Centre Street Bistro and the Sconset Cafe!

 5. Red Red Wine You Make Us Feel So Fine (for fall especially!)

IMG_6585
Ahhh, and as we begin to think about that favorite S word (September!) ALANNA SAYS“Let us guide you into the Fall with some Pinot! As the weather starts to shift from hot summer nights to crisp Fall evenings, it’s hard to resist a glass of red wine. Pinot Noir is the perfect transition wine. It’s delicate and light enough to be a perfect accompaniment to a mild Fall day, yet stands up well to a cozy night at home.” A plethora of Pinot highlights for late summer and Labor Day weekend can found on the amazing Wall at Nantucket Wine & Spirits… Find a few new bottles and get ready to finally relax with a chill night at home, and vino that will complement your mood perfectly!
